2006
Support on safety matters
In 2006, the Actros received the world's first automatic emergency braking system for trucks with Active Brake Assist1. The assistant, which has been continuously developed since its introduction, monitors the area in front of the vehicle with radar and cameras and can detect vehicles, obstacles, as well as pedestrians and cyclists. In dangerous situations it can initially warn the driver visually and acoustically. If the driver does not respond sufficiently, the system can automatically brake — up to and including a full stop. For greater safety, fewer accidents and improved protection for the driver and other road users.
